News from the Guidance Department:.


 

  • Senior cap and gown pictures will be taken through senior English classes. The schedule is as follows: Tuesday, Jan. 23- Dixon and Gulde, Wednesday, Jan. 24- Barron and Hunt, Thursday, Jan. 25 - Rodgers and make-ups until 1:15

Sports News: 

 

  • The soccer teams are back in action here at home tomorrow with varsity kicking off at 5:30 and JV at 7:15.

  • Boys soccer will be competing Saturday in the Cannon Cup in Pineville.

  • In Basketball -tpmorrow, we will host the Ouachita Lions, Girls will begin at 5:30 and boys will follow. Students get in free to these games as well.  

  • Big news in Boys basketball, and even more reason for you to attend friday night’s matchup, We will be retiring #40 in honor of the career of Mike Smith who played here at West Monroe from 1991-1995. The 6 foot 8 inches tall forward went on to attend Bossier Parish Community college after graduating as a Rebel in ‘95. He finished his collegiate career at Northeast Louisiana University (Or ULM) and in the 2000 NBA Draft, he was selected to the Washington Wizards.He went on to have a 13 year professional career domestically and overseas. It’s always an honor to look back and see what alumni from this school have accomplished. Come and join us on Friday as we Honor Mike Smith and celebrate his achievements in the game of basketball.

Club and Organization News:

  • Unfortunately, due to sickness, the ELLS meeting has been moved to next Thursday, January 18, immediately after school in Ms. Eason’s room, 1113.

  • Attention Juniors interested in applying into the Tusquahoma Chapter of National Honor Society at WMHS. Applications open on January 16th, make sure you check the criteria listed on the webpage prior to completing the application. Criteria for Membership Eligibility are listed on the NHS webpage. Applicants must meet all of the criteria in order to be considered for membership. The application will be posted on the NHS Induction of 2024 Google Classroom. Make sure you join the Google Classroom page by using the Join Code: umigisv  If you have any questions, you may reach out to Mrs. Lovelady (alisonlovelady@opsb.net).

  • Junior Civitans will have a meeting on Tuesday, January 30th at 3:15 in Mrs. Beach's room (6206). There is a sign-up sheet on our Google Classroom. We plan to have pizza! Deadline to sign up is January 12th. 

  • The West Monroe High School Band is pleased to host The United States Navy Band on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 7PM in the West Monroe High School Auditorium as part of their national tour. This is one of the world's finest bands and is always a stunning and enjoyable concert! Tickets are free but required. Check with Mr. Freeman for ticket information.
